With all the attention being given iPhone text selection/copy & paste lately (and this being an issue I’ve thought about a fair amount), I decided to throw in my two cents.
Firstly, I’ve always considered text selection (and the subsequent copy/paste operations) to be the sorts of operations that would require two hands. For one, pretty [...]

Just a quick note to point out that the official trailer for Fallout 3 went live today. This is especially exciting for me as this is the first time that my work has been directly viewed by tens of thousands of people. I had final cut over the gameplay portion of the trailer, so everything [...]

Someone told me Linux “just worked.” I laughed, but having nothing better to do, decided to give Ubuntu a shot. Since the website made it woefully unclear that the latest release (7.04 Feisty) was still available for PPC, I downloaded Edgy (6.10). So far it has two strikes: Airport doesn’t work without mucking about, and [...]

So finally, after many calls and whatnot, my iPhone is activated and in use. I managed to keep my Verizon phone number too, so no new number. You can call, and I might even pick up. Call quality is quite good, and the people I’ve talked to so far have said that both the built-in [...]

iPhone experience so far: mixed. The device itself is heavenly; the screen is bright and clear, the interface is (for the most part) a joy to use, and this keyboard is surprisingly intelligent. The hell I’m going through trying to get the phone portion activated, however, is nothing short of maddening. It has now been [...]

So, my quest was successful—I am now the proud owner of a beautiful 8GB iPhone. Unfortunately, AT&T is slammed with activation requests (and I’m adding the double-trouble of a port of my 703 phone number from Verizon), so it’s not actually usable yet. That’s right, before it gets activated, none of its functions are accessible. [...]

So here I am, sitting in line at the AT&T store. There’s another hour and forty-five minutes until the phones go on sale. According to the employees it’s going to be only one per person, so I think I have a pretty good shot. We’ll see. Apparently the first people to get them on the [...]

The Stevenote was somewhat disappointing. I am excited about the UI and Finder changes that were previewed, but most everything else was stuff we’d already seen before. No mention of ZFS at all. And the “One More Things?” Laaaaame. Safari for Windows is nice enough, I guess, but that’s not “One More Thing”-worthy. And the [...]

Oh poor neglected blog. It’s okay, I still love you.
Not too much going on these days. A few more weeks until I head home for Millie’s wedding, which I’m excited about. Just bought a pair of shoes for the event. Now I just need a suit. It will be a sexy ensemble. There will be [...]

I don’t know about you, but John Gruber’s world sounds suspiciously like the real world to me. And no, I don’t mean a crappy MTV “reality” program.
